Roller skate the boardwalk

Rent at J's Rentals (opens 7am) or Boardwalk Skate & Surf (opens 10am) — call ahead for roller skate sizes. Skate the flat Strand path + the Skate Dance Plaza. Muscle Beach is right here.

The Strand path connects Venice all the way north to Santa Monica if you want to skate between them.

Venice Canals

10-min walk inland. Quiet, beautiful, and free. A nice palate cleanser from boardwalk chaos.

Santa Monica Pier + lunch

Pacific Park Ferris wheel, the Route 66 "end of the trail" sign, and plenty of lunch spots on and near the pier.

TCL Chinese Theatre + Walk of Fame

Celebrity handprints in the concrete forecourt, star sidewalk, classic Hollywood photo ops.

Amoeba Music

Legendary record, Blu-ray, and 4K store a few blocks from TCL. Easy to lose an hour. Open till 9pm.

Griffith Observatory — sunset

Arrive before the rush. Hollywood sign views, then the whole basin lights up after ~8pm. Free entry. Open till 10pm.

Dinner in Los Feliz

Right at the foot of Griffith — walkable neighborhood with great restaurants. Or Uber back to DTLA.

5-minute walk from The Broad. Tacos, ramen, Thai, egg sandwiches — grab something and eat before the main event.

Head to the venue

Leave with a little buffer. Short ride but give yourself time to find the entrance and settle in.
